The defense minister has insisted that the Thai-Cambodian General Border Committee meeting must not involve any participant other than Thailand and Cambodia.
Defense Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan commented on the planned Thai-Cambodian General Border Committee, or GBC, meeting that it must be held bilaterally without any participation from a third country.
Prawit insisted that the Defense Ministry will act on Thailand's behalf.
Asked about the Joint Boundary Commission, or JBC, meeting between Thailand and Cambodia, the minister said the Foreign Ministry is responsible for the conference.
He believes that the government's action concerning the two meetings will not violate any law and agreement between the two countries.
At the same time, the minister confirmed that no foreign troops will be allowed on Thai territory as it would breach the Thai Constitution.
This pertains to plans for Indonesia, as the ASEAN chair, to send in troops to observe the Thai-Cambodian border situation.
