Latest Update on Cambodian-Thai Border Clashes --- Round 5

-- According to military officials, as of 22:25Thai troops continue to fire artillery pieces into the temples of Ta Moan and Ta Krabey, Deum Ampil online reports. Cambodia Express News reports that some residents in the provincial town of Oddar Meanchey have been evacuated after artillery shells landed on an area in the town. Some 29,000 Cambodians have reportedly been displaced after the border armed clashes erupted.

-- According to Deum Ampil, at 1725 Thai troops are still firing 155-mm artillery shells into Cambodian villages. Kampuchea Thmey also reports that fighting at Ta Moan is still continuing with exchanges of heavy weapons. Meanwhile, Cambodian Ministry of National Defense has issued a press release saying that Cambodian Deputy PM and Defense Minister Tia Banh will "welcome and receive" his Thai counterpart to discusss a ceasefire deal between the two countries. But no date of the meeting is  reported.

-- Kampuchea Thmey online reports that at 1530 Thai troops fired toxic gas into the Ta Moan temple area. Cambodian troops started to launch Muiltiple Rocket LaucnherBM-21 rockets at Ta Moan temple. Everyday.com also confirms this report, saying that Cambodia has started to use BM-21after it has run out of patience and refused not to use any heavy weapons in the last 4 days.

-- According to a Cambodian General on the frontline, Thai troops have launched attacks by firing rockets and artillery rounds.  They destroyed a section of Cambodia's paved road near the Ta Moan temple in Banteay Ampil District of Oddar Meanchey Province. Cambodia Express News

-- According to military officials in the area of Preah Vihear temple, Thai troops again launched attacks on Cambodian troops at 1340 on 26 April 2011 in the areas of Phnum Troap hill and Chak Chreng near the area of Preah Vihear temple. Deum Ampil online
