Cambodian Court Charges Thais With Illegal Entry Over Border Incident

The meeting between Cambodian FM Hor Namhong and his Thai counterpart has reportedly ended apparently without any solution to the arrest of the seven Thais as the Phnom Penh municipal court has charged them with illegal entry and illegally entering a military base a long the border (AP).
FM Hor Namhong said after the meeting that Cambodian Government has no rights to prevent the court from proceeding, and that both Cambodian and Thai sides had agreed to allow the court to continue its legal proceedings (Deum Ampil). He added that the arrest will not affect the bilateral relations between the two countries. Thai FM Kasit Piromya also said, “We respect the judiciary of Cambodia.” (AP)
Thailand’s Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva on Thursday called on Cambodia to release the detainees immediately and unconditionally (Bangkok Post).
