Cambodia Deports 186 Detained Chinese To China

Cambodia on Friday evening deported 186 Chinese nationals back to China, some of whom are believed to have been involved in transnational crimes, police said.

National Police spokesman Keat Chantharith told Kyodo News the deported Chinese, including 52 women, were detained in raids Thursday in two provinces and in the capital Phnom Penh with cooperation from Chinese Interpol.

Related raids were reportedly also conducted Thursday in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, as well as Taiwan, which netted hundreds of suspects allegedly involved in Internet and telephone scams mainly targeting mainland Chinese.
