Cambodia and Vietnam have signed two agreement documents – the Amendment of the Joint Venture Agreement on the Establishment of Cambodia Angkor Air and the MoU on the modification in some remaining areas of the land boundary between the governments of Cambodia and Vietnam.The signing ceremony was held here yesterday under the witness of Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and his visiting Vietnamese counterpart H.E. Nguyen Tan Dung after their bilateral talks.
During their one-hour meeting, both premiers agreed to push the border demarcation between the two neighboring countries to complete before 2012 in order to build a border line with peace, cooperation and development for the interests of the two countries and peoples, H.E. Sry Thamrong, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister, told reporters after the meeting.
Both sides also expressed concern over the impact that could result from the construction of the Xayaburi dam in Laos. They agreed to ask Laos to cooperate with Cambodia, Vietnam as well as Thailand to conduct a thorough study about the impacts before deciding to build the dam.
Meanwhile, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen informed his Vietnamese counterpart of the latest Thai aggressions against Cambodia in the areas of Ta Krabey and Ta Mone Temples and some other areas along the border in Oddar Meanchey province.
For his part, H.E. Nguyen Tan Dung expressed Vietnam’s concern over the issue.
The high-ranking Vietnamese delegation led by H.E. Nguyen Tan Dung arrived here on Saturday at noon for a two-day working visit, at the invitation of Cambodian Premier Samdech Techo Hun Sen.
On Apr. 23, the visiting Vietnamese prime minister was received in a royal audience by His Majesty King-Father Preah Bat Norodom Sihanouk; and paid courtesy call on Samdech Akka Moha Thamma Pothisal Chea Sim, Acting Head of State and H.E. Nguon Nhel, Acting President of the National Assembly.
H.E. Nguyen Tan Dung is scheduled to preside over today the Opening Ceremony of the Headquarters of Cambodia-Vietnam Securities and the 2nd Cambodia-Vietnam Conference on Investment-Commerce-Tourism Promotion before concluding his visit in Cambodia. –AKP
