Commander of Thailand's Second Region Requests 'Second' Round of Talks on 6 Feb

Phnom Penh 5 February 2011 -- Deum Ampil in Cambodian language

General Srey Doeuk, commander of intervention division 3, with direct order to fight in the Prasat Preah Vihear temple area, told Deum Ampil news center at 1540 on 5 February that Chavalit, commander of Thailand's Second Region in Sisaket province, contacted the Cambodian side to request another round of talks at 1000 on 6 February, tomorrow, in the Sambok Khmum area at the point 5+5 (the place where five Cambodian and five Thai soldiers are jointly stationed). The Cambodian side has agreed to the talks as requested.

The general also revealed that the Cambodian side also plans to hand over to the Thai side at 0930 tomorrow, 6 February, another Thai soldier, the last one captured as war prisoner by Cambodian troops.

The general added that even though the commander of Thailand's Second Region has requested a second round of talks, Thailand continues to send reinforcement troops to the border area, especially at Choam Tae and Bos Sbov; such acts have kept the border situation tense.
