The Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) and U.S. troops will jointly conduct a military exercise on Feb. 27.
Approximately 500 RCAF and U.S. troops will participate in the first exercise at three locations – the naval base in Preah Sihanouk province, the tank commanding headquarters in Kampong Speu province and Pich Nil military base – from Feb. 27 to Mar. 2, Lt. Gen. Chhum Socheat, spokesman for the Ministry of National Defense told reporters yesterday.
The second military drill dubbed “Angkor Sentinel 2011” will last 12 days form May 16 to 27 with the participation of 500 military personnel from Indonesia and Mongolia, he added.
According to the spokesman, the drill will be focusing on how to rescue victims of wars, how doctors help the injured and how to truck emergency food, etc.
Lt. Gen. Chhum Socheat expressed his hope that the “Angkor Sentinel 2011” will be as successful as the multinational military exercise “Angkor Sentinel 2010,” hosted by Cambodia in July last year. –AKP
