Thai People's Opinions on Cambodian-Thai Border Issues

Bangkok 5 January 2011 -- Krunthep Thurakit in Thai language

The Krungthep Thurakit, in its editorial, offers insights into how Thai people views the issues of the Cambodian-Thai border, saying:
In Thailand's case, people's opinions toward border issues can be split up into three groups. The first group is the one supporting a new round of negotiation for the territory. It thinks that the Thai Government has been too compromising with Cambodia. The second group is the government and the security agencies that view the problem's solution as taking time and that it requires diplomatic negotiation. The third group is the educated people who empathize Cambodia, which is a small country and less developed than Thailand. They think that Thailand should give assistance to Cambodia. However, this group has been condemned by the first group that it does not love the country.
